Dorothy Lucille Conner went peacefully to be with Jesus in her sleep on November 28, 2019. She was 94 years old.

Dorothy was born on January 8, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Louis Vitale and Alvina Striebel Vitale. She graduated in 1943 from Eureka High School. After graduation she worked for Curtis-Wright in St. Louis welding air plane parts during WWII. Her husband worked for the N&S Railroad and they lived in various cities in the Midwest before settling in Montgomery City in 1963.

On May 26, 1945 she married Edward Conner at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1984.

To this union five children were born. A son, Edward Conner (Patricia) of Troy and four daughters: Kathleen Swinson (Larry) of Pearland, TX; Patricia Richard (Roger, deceased) of Montgomery City; Linda Patton (Jim) of Silex and Dorothy Vigil (Scott) of O'Fallon; fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montgomery City. She spent her married life raising her children and caring for her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She loved to quilt and made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. Reading, working on her nook and spending time with her family were all important to her. She loved shopping, eating out, and being with her special granddaughter, Leah Richard.

She is survived by her five children and spouses; her fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Barbara O'Hanlon of Troy and Marlene Cunningham of Montgomery City, sister-in-law, Joyce Fischer of Troy, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward Conner; her parents, Louis Vitale and Alvina Collins; her step-father, William Fischer and three brothers, Norman and Gilbert Vitale and Bill Fischer. Also preceding her was her son-in-law, Roger Richard.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11 AM on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montgomery City, MO. Father Augustine Okoli officiated and interment was in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Thursday from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO, with a Prayer service at 7 PM. Pallbearers were her five grandsons: Bill Richard, Jody Conner, Chad Swinson, Jeff Patton and Scott Vigil and one granddaughter, Tracy Swinson Stoker.
