Donald Vincent Truitt, 92, of New Florence, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the St. Andrews New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.

Donald Vincent Truitt was born October 27, 1926 in Fulton, Missouri to Clarence "Wheeler" Truitt and Lola Fay Vincent Truitt. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Truitt married Neva May Maddox on September 16, 1956 in Fulton, Missouri and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2006. They were married almost 50 years and to this union one son, Mark, was born. Mr. Truitt worked at First National Bank (Mercantile Bank) from 1954 until he retired as President of the Bank in 1988. He was a very active member of the community serving in many organizations and was a member of the Montgomery City Christian Church. Mr. Truitt will be missed by his family and his friends.

Mr. Truitt is survived by one son, Mark Truitt and wife, Andra, of Littleton, CO; two grandchildren: Ellen Truitt of Broomfield, CO; and Austin Truitt of Scottsdale, Arizona; and friends.

Mr. Truitt was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence "Wheeler" Truitt and Lola Fay Vincent Truitt and his wife, Neva May Maddox Truitt.

Visitation was held Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Private graveside services were held on Monday at the Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, MO.
