Donald Larry Poindexter, 79, of Rural Wellsville, MO, died on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the SSM St. Joseph West Hospital at Lake St. Louis, MO.
Donald Larry Poindexter was born July 5, 1943 in Rural Wellsville, MO, to Don F. Poindexter and Elnora Boycourt Poindexter. He graduated from Wellsville-Middletown R-I High School and later married Peggy Joyce Payne on June 9, 1963 at the New Florence Baptist Church. They were married for over 59 wonderful years. Larry was self-employed running a heavy equipment operation, selling equipment and truck hauling. He was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church, enjoyed working and restoring old tractors and cars, and enjoyed listening to music. He always enjoyed visiting with his family and many friends.
Donald Larry Poindexter is survived by his wife, Peggy Joyce Payne Poindexter, of rural Wellsville, MO; son, Lorne Poindexter and wife, Tonya, of rural Wellsville, MO; and his grandchildren: Casey Lee Poindexter and wife, Jennifer, of Montgomery City, MO; and Lukas Don Poindexter of Port Saint Lucie, FL. Also surviving is one brother, John Poindexter and wife, Barbara, of Martinsburg, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donald Larry Poindexter was preceded in death by his parents, Don F. Poindexter and Elnora Boycourt Poindexter and his daughter, Tamara Renee Poindexter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Bethel Methodist Church in rural Wellsville, MO. Reverend John Ray will officiate and interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers include Lorne Poindexter, Casey Poindexter, Lukas Poindexter, Steve Poindexter, Jeffrey Poindexter, James Futhey.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bethel Methodist Church Trust or to the Bethel Cemetery, c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
