Donald Harry Maddux, 91, of Montgomery City, MO, formerly of the Big Spring, MO, area, died on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Donald Harry Maddux was born December 20, 1929, in Corso, MO, to Frank J. Maddux and Anna Elizabeth Pottebaum Maddux. He graduated from Bellflower High School in 1948 and attended one year of college. Mr. Maddux was a Retired Veteran of the United States Air Force with an Honorable discharge on December 31, 1979, serving overseas for over 27 years and was in the Korean War. He was a communications superintendent in the NSA for over 30 years. On November 10, 1957 he married Rob Berta Fay Broz in Montgomery City, MO, and have been married for over 63 wonderful years. After retirement Mr. Maddux kept very busy serving over 25 years on the St. Andrews of New Florence Care Center Board and the Developmental Disabilities Assistance Board; was a member of the Montgomery VFW; the Rhineland American Legion; was a 4-H Leader; a school bus driver for Montgomery County and Gasconade County; was a mechanic on small engines; mowed lawns, and enjoyed putting model airplanes together. He never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone, he will be dearly missed.
Mr. Maddux is survived by his wife, Rob Berta Fay Broz of Montgomery City, MO; son, Michael Maddux and wife, Cathy, of Rhineland, MO; daughter, Donna Branson and husband, Tony, of Big Spring, MO; grandchildren: Brandyn Churchill, LaTyshia Churchill, Nathanyel Kennedy, Cheyanne Kennedy, Logyn Horn, Regina Reuth, Angela Wagaman, and Ally Branson; great-grandchildren: Kadence, Skylynn, Zyrynn, Jaylynn, Jordynn, Hunter, Noah, and Addison. Also Surviving is a Brother-in-law, John Broz and wife, Beverly, of Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Marlene Miller of Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Maddux was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. and Anna Elizabeth Pottebaum Maddux; brothers and sisters: Anna Broz, Margaret Catherine Maddux, Frank Maddux, Jr., and Ruth Virginia Dobbs; Brothers-in-law: Frank Broz, Joe Broz, and Leonard Horst; and sisters-in-law: Juanita Beck and Dorothy Broz.
MASKS REQUIRED Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Donald Deeker will officiate and interment with full Military Honors will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
