Donald Gary Byers, 68, of rural Montgomery City, MO, died on Monday, January 31, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Donald Gary Byers was born on October 15, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA to Archie Byers and Thelma Devine Byers.  He married Rita Wilson on October 29, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada and have been married for over 33 wonderful years.  Gary was a self-employed drywaller and painter and was still working hard every day.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Montgomery City, MO; enjoyed watching the NHRA drag racing; and loved Country Music and had his own band for a while.  Gary enjoyed visiting with all his family and many friends.

Gary is survived by his wife, Rita Wilson Byers of rural Montgomery City, MO; two daughters: Bianca Mayoros and husband, Jason, of Chicago, IL; and Julie Byers of Springfield, MO; son, Travis Gruenloh of Williamsburg, MO; and four grandchildren.  Also surviving is his brothers and sister: David Byers and wife, Judy; Darrell Byers and wife, Bonnie; and Diane Hildebrandt.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Thelma Devine Byers and two brothers, Larry Dean Byers and Billy Jo Byers.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM (noon) on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.  The Reverend Thomas Murphy will officiate and interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery near Martinsburg, MO.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM with a Masonic Service at 11:45 AM at Schlanker Funeral Home.
