Della Merle Werges, 93, of New Florence, MO, died on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the St. Andrews New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.

Della Merle Schraer Werges was born April 12, 1926 in Big Spring, MO, to William Schraer and Jesse Bauer Schraer. She graduated from Hermann High School in Hermann, MO, and married Vernon Simon Werges on August 11, 1946 in Bellflower, MO. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1992. Mrs. Werges was a member of the Bellflower United Methodist Church, a member of the WSCS of Bellflower, and enjoyed reading and gardening.

Mrs. Werges is survived by two children: Kenneth Werges and wife, JoAnn, of Jonesburg, MO; and Barbara Downey and husband, Christopher, of St. Peters, MO. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Shelker and husband, Robert, of O'Fallon, MO; and Dollie Pansky of Costa Rica; step-sister, LaVerne Bernat of New Florence, MO; step-sister-in-law, Mary Bock of Fulton, MO; and sister-in-law, Judy Werges of Lakewood, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mrs. Werges was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jesse Bauer Schraer and her husband, Vernon Simon Werges.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Carolyn Hoffmann officiated and interment was in the Bellflower Cemetery in Bellflower, MO. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
