Darrell Lynn Scronce, Sr., 70, of Rhineland, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Darrell was born on February 12, 1955, in Granite City, Illinois, to the late Earl John Scronce and Edith Virginia (Backues) Scronce. He graduated from high school and proudly served in the Army National Guard as a military officer and member of the helicopter maintenance team.

Darrell's love for the outdoors was unmatched. Whether hunting, fishing, or camping, he could always be found enjoying nature's beauty. He had a special fondness for boating on the river and searching for arrowheads. A true adventurer at heart, Darrell was also an avid Harley rider, and his spirit of adventure never waned.

Known for his "heart of gold," Darrell was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a "collector of people," forming meaningful connections with everyone he met. There was never a dull moment when Darrell was around—his lively spirit and knack for creativity kept those around him on their toes. He could fix anything with whatever was at hand, whether it was super glue, duct tape, or zip ties.

Above all, Darrell was a devoted family man. He spent much of his adult life caring for his parents, and his love for his family was evident in everything he did.

Darrell is survived by his children: Darrell (Michelle) Scronce, Jr. of Somerville, Alabama, Chris (Tania) Scronce of Moulton, Alabama, Sara Durante of Decatur, Alabama; grandchildren: Kali Scronce, Greyson Scronce, Evan Durante; special friend, Jennifer Brewer of Rhineland, Missouri; nephews: Chad Scronce, Kevin Scronce, Ron Scronce, Jr., Josh Scronce, Jake Scronce; brother, Gary Scronce; and many others whose lives he touched. He will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and boundless energy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl John and Edith Virginia Scronce, and two brothers, Terry Scronce and Ron Scronce, Sr.

Darrell will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
