Connie Sue Thurmon, 68, of Montgomery City, Missouri, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

Connie was born on May 7, 1954 to Edgar and Helen Shelton Wallen in Vandalia, Missouri. She was baptized at Farber Christian Church when she was eight years old. In 1973 she graduated from Van-Far Highschool. She lived with her family in Farber, Missouri until she married, then she moved to Montgomery City. On May 19, 1973, Connie married Johnny Dee Thurmon. They were married for 49 beautiful years. They had two sons, Shawn and Clayton Thurmon.

Connie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and a very loving grandma. Her wonderful love for her family was outstanding and will never be forgotten. She loved to have pizza and movie nights with her grandchildren. The whole family, nieces and nephews included, would have family games nights. They will always remember all of the fun times they had together. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending time with her family, whom will all miss her greatly.

Mrs. Thurmon is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Dee Thurmon; Sons: Clayton Thurmon and wife, Robin, and Shawn Thurmon and wife, Theresa; Twin sister, Bonnie Wallen Vedder and husband, Richard; sister, Linda Wallen Rives; grandchildren: Jordana, Cayden, Jay, Cerynitey, Trynitey, Jessica, Destiny, and Tyler; great-grandchildren: Selene, Braiden, Kylie, Jackson, Sophia, and Grayson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Wallen and Helen Shelton Wallen; sister, Ann Marie Wallen who passed away at birth, grandparents, uncles, and aunts.

Mrs. Thurmon will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Schlanker Funeral Home of Montgomery City, MO, is in charge of the arrangements.
