Clyde H. Thompson, Jr., 73, of O'Fallon, MO, died on Monday, November 12, 2018, at the St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO.
Clyde Harvey Thompson, Jr., was born on December 31, 1944 in Missouri the son of Clyde Harvey Thompson, Sr. and Dorothy Mary Mabry Thompson. He graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1963 and then attended two years of college. He married the love of his life, Sandra Hubbard on January 15, 1966 in New Florence, MO, and she preceded him in death on September 22, 2002. They had over 36 years of a wonderful marriage. Clyde retired as a cargo freight handler after working for Ozark Airlines, TWA, and American Airlines. He was very adventurous, enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling, woodworking, hunting, fishing, spending time on the lake and camping. Clyde was a very hard worker, liked to joke around, frugal, and stern, but he had a soft side, especially with his family.
Mr. Thompson is survived by one son, Christopher Todd Thompson of O'Fallon, MO; one daughter, Alissia Hughes and husband, John Wagner of O'Fallon, MO; four grandchildren: Brianna Thompson, Blake Thompson, Cassey Hughes, and Cody Hughes and wife, Whitney; one great-grandchildren Kane and one on the way, Hayden. Also surviving is his brother Ivan Thompson and wife, Kathryn, of Corona, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends. Also is his dog, Charlie.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Harvey Thompson, Sr. and Dorothy Mary Mabry Thompson, and his wife, Sandra Hubbard Thompson.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Ed Hankinson officiated and interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Cody Hughes, Blake Thompson, Brianna Thompson, Cassey Hughes, David Thompson and Brent Thompson.
