Clifford Don Robinson, 89, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico, MO.
Clifford Don Robinson was born February 24, 1927 in Bellflower, MO, to Russell Robinson and Clara Estes Robinson. He graduated from Bellflower High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II as a Military Police. Don married Wanda Gruber on November 18, 1949 in Hermann, MO, and together they shared over 66 years of a wonderful marriage. They lived in Gamma, MO, from 1959 until 1993, when they moved to Montgomery City, MO. Mr. Robinson retired after working many years for the Eastern Missouri Telephone Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, enjoyed square dancing, traveling, hunting rattlesnakes, shooting, golfing, and hiking in the mountains. Mr. Robinson loved spending time with his family and many friends.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Wanda Gruber Robinson; two grandchildren: Erin Hadden and Ryan Hadden and wife, Stacy; and five great-grandchildren: Juanita and Vivian Hadden and Ava, Harper and Drake Monsen, all of Montgomery City, MO. Also surviving are two sisters: Faye Cobb and husband, George, of Montgomery City, MO; and Susie Winter and husband, Russell, of Bellflower, MO; also brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary Elizabeth Snarr, Mildred Brandenburg, and husband, Willard, all of Montgomery City, MO; Margaret Etter of New Florence, MO; Esther Blom of Merritt Island, FL; Patricia Aguilar and husband, Sal; Donna Devlin; Henry Edward "Pat" Gruber, all of Montgomery City, MO; William Anthony "Bill" Gruber and Donna Turnbough of Paris, MO; John Gruber of Williamsburg, MO; and Paula Gruber of Montgomery City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Patrick Hadden; and an infant sister, Betty.
Funeral services with full military honors were held at 6:00 PM on Thursday at the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Brian Larkin officiated and visitation was held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday at the church. Casketbearers included Steve Young, Dave and Cory Burch, Jerry Lotton, Fred Hagamier, and Jim Parsons. Honorary casketbearers included Bob Shelton and Bill Percy.
