Charles William Eckert, 75 of Mexico, MO, formerly of Williamsburg, MO, died on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the VA Home in Mexico, MO.

Charles William Eckert was born in DePere, MO, on July 26, 1944 to Charles George Eckert and Patri F. Rathiel Eckert. He graduated from Kirkwood High School and attended one year of college. Mr. Eckert was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 101 ^st airborne troop and was a paratrooper during the Vietnam war. He married Shirley Coffey on January 14, 1967 in DePere, MO, and they were married for over 53 wonderful years. Mr. Eckert worked at Senco as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local 36. He was the youngest VFW Commander and was a member of the VFW Post in Arnold, MO. Before his health declined, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing, and loved spending time with all his family and friends.

Mr. Eckert is survived by his wife, Shirley Coffee Eckert of Williamsburg, MO; two sons: Charles "Chuck" Eckert and wife, Jo, of Williamsburg, MO; and Darren Eckert and wife, Sheila, of Auxvasse, MO; three grandchildren: Charles William C. Eckert and wife, Jackie; Patri Rawlins and husband, Payton; and Ellie Eckert; and great-grandchildren: Jim, Lena and Henry Eckert and baby Eckert-Rawlins on the way. He is also survived by brother, Michael George Eckert and wife, Donna, of Troy, MO; sister, Shanellen Eckert and fiancée, Andrew Sullivan, of Foristell, MO; sister-in-law, Susie Eckert of Alton, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Eckert was preceded in death by his parents, Charles George Eckert and Patri F. Rathiel Eckert, brother, Danny Eckert, and sister, Kimberly Sue Eckert.

Mr. Eckert was cremated and there will be services at a later date.
