Cathy Deering Leu, 62, of Montgomery City, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.

Cathy Sue Leu was born August 23, 1958, in Mexico, MO, to William "Bill" Deering and Bonnie Lee Moody Deering.  She graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1976 and attended college for a year.  Cathy married JR Leu on June 18, 1977 in Montgomery City, MO. They have been married for over 43 wonderful years, during which time they raised their 4 children and enjoyed their 12 grandchildren.  Cathy retired as Postmaster of the Wellsville Post Office in Wellsville, MO, and then was the Director at the Montgomery County Senior Center until July of 2020.  Cathy was a strong woman who worked hard and was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.  Anyone who knew Cathy appreciated her great sense of humor, infectious laughter and her ability to tell a great story. Her favorite place to be was at home enjoying the outdoors, reading, planting flowers and tending to her many animals. Most of all, she enjoyed being Maw Maw to her grandchildren.  Cathy will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Cathy is survived her husband, JR Leu of Montgomery City, MO; her children: Casey Leu and wife, Rachel of Montgomery City, MO; Courtney James and husband, Matt, of Montgomery City, MO; Mackenzie Deeker and husband, Matthew of Bellflower, MO; and Hilary Benney and husband, Dustin, of Montgomery City, MO; and her Grandchildren: Ty, Mason and Avery Leu, Carter, Keenan and Maddox James, Waylon, Finley and Calvin Deeker, Jackson, Hadley and Cooper Benney.  Also surviving are her Brothers: Bill Deering and wife, Connie, of Quincy, IL; and Dennis Deering and wife, Joy, of Montgomery City, MO; sisters-in-law, Marsha Deering of Napoleon, Ohio; Starla Overkamp of Jonesburg, MO; Tonnie Leu and partner Rita Riggs of Phoenix, Arizona and Criss Leu of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" Deering and Bonnie Lee Moody Deering; her Brother, Steve Deering; and sister-in-law, Carol Penn.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home.  Honorary casketbearers include all Cathy's Grandchildren.
