Carrol Lee Dempsey, 87 of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on August 2, 2025 at the New Florence Nursing Home.

The family will receive friends on August 30, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00am.  Interment immediately following the service at the Montgomery City Cemetery.

Carrol was born July 24, 1938, in Eolia, Missouri to Benjamin Franklin and Lorene Vernita (Haddock) Dempsey.

Carrol graduated from Wellsville-Middletown High School in 1956 after spending the previous years in Bowling Green, prior to the reorganization of Wellsville-Middletown school district.  He married LInda Sue Conrad on August 31, 1960, in Buell, Missouri.  Linda and Carrol set up housekeeping in Montgomery City, Missouri, where they lived until 2007 when they moved to Columbia.  Carrol worked for Neidergerke Truck Line and Allied Truck System hauling new cars across America. After retirement, Carrol drove cars for local dealerships in and around Columbia and Central Missouri.  He especially enjoyed the friends he made driving during retirement.

Carrol is survived by his daughter, Lorrie Knoepflein and husband, Steve, of Montgomery City; his son, Mark Dempsey and wife, Kathy, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Shawn Pittman and husband, Jay, of Folsom, Louisiana; Nicholas Knoepflein and wife, Kayla, of Elberta, Alabama; Kale Dempsey and wife, Samanatha, of Hallsville; Tate Dempsey and wife, Morgan, of Istanbul, Turkey; and Kadee Knernschield and husband, Elliot, of Spanish Fort, Alabama; eight great-grandchildren, Greyson, Ella, and Coldon Pittman, Lainey Knoepflein, Kolten and Truitt Dempsey, and Dietrich and Moody Dempsey; brother Bill Dempsey of Vandalia, Missouri; sister Dianne Crump and husband, Ronnie, of Vandalia, Missouri; sister-in-law Wanda Caminiti of Apple Valley, California; brother-in-law Gary Conrad and wife ,Susan, of Wentzville, MO; sister-in-law Cheryl Conrad of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews living in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Florida, New York, and California.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda, his brothers Wilmer "Jack" and Claude, sister, Doris Chick, and an infant brother and sister.
