Carolyn Sue Winter, 88, of Bellflower, MO passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29th at the Aspire Senior Living Center of New Florence, MO surrounded by family.
Sue was born at Bellflower, MO to Russell C. and Clara Estes Robinson on October 25, 1937. She grew up on the farm with her siblings Clifford Don and Lois Faye. They attended a one room school house, Prairie Flower and later graduated from the Bellflower High School. Sue was one of 6 in her graduating class of 1955 which was the last year for the Bellflower High School. During her high school years, she was very active on the girls’ basketball team. After graduation she went on to work for McQuay-Norris at St. Louis, MO.
She married her high school sweetheart and classmate Russel Winter on June 8, 1957. They started their family on a farm in Bellflower, MO. They became parents to three daughters, Sheryl, Sandra, and Jennifer. Sue was very active on the farm with driving grain trucks, tractors, and combining. She had a big garden with lots of canning, raised fresh chickens and raised sheep. She was a great cook and her families favorite were her pies. When her youngest daughter Jennifer went to Kindergarten Sue started her bus career with Brook Sutor Bus Service later to become Jerry Schwartz Bus Service which she dedicated 35 years of service. In between bus routes Sue worked for the Division of Family Services and Montgomery County Youth Facility.
Sue was a member of the United Methodist Church, TIE club, Bellflower Fireflies, The Bellflower Squircle 8’s square dancers club and always volunteering to help cook with various dinners.
Sue is survived by her husband of 69 years, Russel Winter, children: Sheryl Leigh (Micheal) Leonard of Bellflower MO, Sandy Jean Brickey of Cape Coral, FL, and Jennifer Ann Winter of St Charles, MO., grandchildren: Ashley (Zachary) Milligan of Bellflower, MO, Taylor (Justin) Clark of Boynton Beach, FL and James (fiancé Anna) Brickey of Ballwin, MO and great-grandchildren: Aliya, Jaidyn, and Kyler Milligan and baby Clark on the way. Other survivors include sister in-law Joyce Hendricks, sister/brother in-law Marilyn and Charles Grosse and many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Russel and Clara Robinson, siblings: infant sister Betty Ann Robinson, brother Don and wife Wanda Robinson, sister Faye and husband George Cobb, brother/ sister-in law Clifford and Merle Winter, and brother in-law, Leo Hendricks.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the Bellflower Methodist Church in Bellflower, Missouri with Rev. Jack Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellflower Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the Bellflower Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Schwartz, Carl Schreiner, Alan Schreiner, James Brickey, Zachary Milligan, and Mike Grosse. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Milligan and Taylor Clark.
