Byron Thompson, 92, of Rhineland, MO, died on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Jonesburg Care Center in Jonesburg, MO.
Byron Thompson was born April 6, 1924 in Montgomery County, MO, to Odie Thompson and Bernice Tate Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a Veteran of the United States Army. He married Ora Ann Love on November 22, 1945 in Mexico, MO, and together they enjoyed over 67 years of a wonderful marriage. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2013. Mr. Thompson was a very hard worker and farmed all of his life until he retired. He enjoyed visiting with his family and many friends.
Mr. Thompson is survived by four children: Tanis Comerford and husband, Jim, of Smithville, MO; Jeannie Thompson of Mexico, MO; Shelley Faler of Overland Park, KS; and Steve Thompson of Lake St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren: Michele Rhoades and husband, Ted, of Kansas City, MO; Craig Thompson and wife, Diana, of Rhineland, MO; Conya Thompson of Branson, MO; Laura Crawford and husband, Matthew, of Smithville, MO; Melissa Boyd and husband, Levi, of Gardner, KS; and Eric Faler and wife, Katie, of Lee's Summit, MO; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Bernice Tate Thompson; his wife, Ora Ann Love Thompson; son, George Thompson; and by four brothers: Sidney, Gordon, Otis, and Lloyd Thompson.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9 , 2016 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Ron Marsh officiated and interment was in the Bethany Cemetery, near Americus, MO. Visitation was held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Eric Faler, Levi Boyd, Matthew Crawford, Ted Rhoades, Jim Comerford and Johah Rhoades.
