Byron H. Tate, 85, of Osage Beach, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO, surrounded by family.

Byron H. Tate was born on January 4, 1937 in Bachelor, MO, to William Clinton Tate and Miriam Cole Tate Berger.  After graduating from Montgomery Co. High School in 1955, he attended Hannibal LaGrange College in Hannibal, MO and received an Associate's Degree.  Byron served his country through military service in the Missouri Army National Guard.  Byron married his best friend, Alice Elmore on September 25, 1965 in the Methodist Church in Montgomery City, MO.  They were married for 57 years and raised three sons.  He joined the First United Methodist Presbyterian Church of Montgomery City in 1965 and was baptized and a faithful Christian.  He served on most of the Boards of the church throughout his 42 years as a member.  In 2007, he and Alice moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and he was a faithful member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church. Byron started working at Elmore Ford in 1960 and eventually became an owner/operator of Elmore Ford with his lifelong friend, John Simpson.  Byron was involved in many community activities including Coaching Khoury League, always teaching good sportsmanship; and a member of the Montgomery Jaycees.

Mr. Tate is survived by his wife, Alice Elmore Tate of Osage Beach, MO; three sons, Scott Tate and wife, Tracy of St. Louis, MO; Jeff Tate and wife, April, of Osage Beach, MO; and Jason Tate and wife, Janet of Mexico, MO; three grandsons:  Brian Tate and wife, Cassie, of Shawnee, Kansas, Eric Tate and wife, Courtney of St. Louis, MO; and Braden Tate of Osage Beach, MO; and three granddaughters: Emma Tate of St. Louis, MO; Anna Tate of St. Louis, MO; and Isabel Tate of Osage Beach, MO.  Also surviving siblings are, Naomi Groves of Overland Park, Kansas, Bonnie Faris and husband, Gerry of Marshall, MO; Boyd Tate and wife, Sophie of El Paso, TX; and numerous family members and friends.

Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his father, William Clinton Tate and wife, Mary Lee; Mother, Miriam Berger; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Ralph and Darline Elmore; two sisters, Leona Herzig and husband Richard, Judy Hassler and husband Jim, and brother-in-law Leonard Groves.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO.  Reverend Lynn Quist and Pastor Steve Jones will officiate and interment will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.  Casketbearers include Jim Davis, Clint Roden, Greg Yager, Brian Tate, Eric Tate and Braden Tate.  Honorary casketbearers include Clay Gastler, John Simpson, Robert Roam, and Phil Johnson.
