Birney Jones, 76, of New Florence, MO, formerly of Danville, MO, died on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the St. Andrews New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.

Birney Jones was born March 2, 1943 along with his twin brother, Bernard Jones, in Hannibal, MO, to Virgil Leonard Jones and Lucille Edith Treaster Jones. He was one of ten children. Birney worked many years for Andrews Dozing Company and in the later years he did carpentry work. Birney loved to fish and grow and sell tomatoes. He loved being with his family and friends.

Mr. Jones is survived by his twin brother, Bernard Jones of Danville, MO; brother, Curly Jones and wife, Molly, of Montgomery City, MO; brother, Jim Jones and wife, Barbara, of Mexico, MO; and sister Ruth Ann Moreland of St. James, MO. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Leonard Jones and Lucille Edith Treaster Jones, brothers: George and Richard; and sisters: Katherine, Virginia, and Mary Louise.

Visitation was held on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
