Betty Marie Rodgers Meaders, 98, of New Florence, MO, died on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.
Betty Marie Rodgers Meaders was born June 17, 1917 near Vandalia, MO, to her parents, Charles Leland Rhoads and Alta Mae Clithero Rhoads. She married Manley Riley Rodgers on August 18, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1978. She married Robert Meaders on November 8, 1981. He also preceded her in death on October 28, 1996.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Anne Bernat and husband, Otto Louis Bernat of Montgomery City; granddaughter, Christina Ann Ford and husband, Everett of Crossville, TN ; and grandson, Eric Wayne Bernat and wife, Billie, of rural Montgomery City. Great-grandchildren, Crystal Ford and Travis Ford of Crossville, TN, Heather Schmidt and husband, Ben, of rural Bellflower, MO; and Rodney Bernat of Montgomery City. Great-great-grandchildren: Dakota and Heaven Ford of Crossville, TN; Sister-in-law, Grace Rhoads of Mountain Home, AK; one nephew, Kenneth Rhoads and wife, Joyce, of Mountain home, AK; niece, Connie Squires of Independence, MO; two step-daughters, Ella Marie Reiter and husband, John, of Quincy, IL and Rosa Thompson of Drum, PA. She is also survived by numerous step-great and step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Price and Lyndell Rhoads and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Rhoads.
Mrs. Meaders was a member of the Montgomery City First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church for many years. She also was a member of the Faithful Helper Club.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the Church on Saturday. Interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Pastors Darrel Deeker and Reverend Ed Hankinson officiated. Pallbearers included Ben Schmidt, Rodney Bernat, Dustin Kirkpatrick, Dillon Kirkpatrick, Travis Ford, and Bob Miller. Honorary pallbearer included John Reiter.
