Betty Sue Lichtenberg, 87, of Bellflower, Missouri, died on January 31, 2024, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Warrenton, Missouri, surrounded by family.

Betty was born on July 25, 1936, in Warrenton, Missouri, to Vernon and Virginia (Fort) Sprick. She grew up attending church at the Evangelical Church in Warrenton, Missouri, where she was baptized and confirmed.

She married Herschel Daniel Lichtenberg on October 11, 1954, in a Baptist Church in Hernando, Mississippi. They had been married for over 65 wonderful years until Herschel's passing on April 14, 2020. Together they worked hard many years farming and raising cattle and hogs until their retirement. Betty and Herschel loved to travel around the United States and often found themselves in Illinois or Arkansas to watch live country music shows.

Betty was a member of the Bellflower United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the T.I.E. Club, Fireflies, and a former member of the Squircle Eights Square Dancers. She was also a quilter at the Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed taking Sunday drives and looking at the trees changing.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She taught all the grandchildren how to make an egg in the nest and she was well-known for her famous red velvet cake.

Betty is survived by her four sons: Dennis (Becky) Lichtenberg, Bob (Jeanne) Lichtenberg, Mike (Becky) Lichtenberg, and Mark Lichtenberg; seven grandchildren: Heather (Grant) Boschert, Holly (Marcus) Forrest, Justin (Chasity) Lichtenberg, Brittany (Stephen) Derks, Brady (Kylie) Lichtenberg, Emily (Rolando) Peralta, and Tyler Lichtenberg; eleven great-grandchildren: Dru, Deacon, and Deadrick Forrest, Khloe and Kendra Boschert, Kyndri, Casen, and Crew Derks, Mia Lichtenberg, and Elina and Mateo Peralta; and her special friend, Bonnie Begeman.

Also surviving is her sister, Margy Schowe and sister-in-law, Judy Sprick, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Lichtenberg; her parents, Vernon and Virginia Sprick; brothers: Larry Sprick and Loudon Sprick; brother-in-law, Herb Schowe; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Calvin and Marilyn Winter; daughter-in-law, Mary Louise Lichtenberg; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eunice (Jones) and Dan Lichtenberg.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri, with the Reverend Rich Helton officiating. A private family burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

The casketbearers include Grant Boschert, Marcus Forrest, Justin Lichtenberg, Stephen Derks, Rolando Peralta, Brady Lichtenberg, Tyler Lichtenberg, and Dru Forrest. Honorary casketbearers include Deacon Forrest, Deadrick Forrest, Khloe Boschert, Kendra Boschert, Kyndri Derks, Casen Derks, Crew Derks, Mia Lichtenberg, Elina Peralta, and Mateo Peralta.
