Bernard Marion "Butch" Thurman, 80, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.
Butch was born on May 16, 1942 in New Florence, MO, to George Webster Thurman and Ethel Harriett Jones Thurman. He graduated from Montgomery City High School, the last class to graduate before moving to the new Montgomery County R-II Building. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending times with all his family and friends.
Butch is survived by his significant other, Dorothy Wyman of Montgomery City, MO; children: Dion Thurman and wife, Cindy, of Montgomery City, MO; Dina Lybarger and husband, David, of Russellville, MO; and Dana Burwell and husband, Hoss, of Montgomery City, MO; step-children: Dorothy Stauffacher and husband, Scott, of Middletown, MO; Daisy Fox of Harrisburg, MO; and Amy Bourne and husband, Jesse, of Auxvasse, MO; grandchildren: Josh, Destiny, Katelyn, Kindrea, Kasey, Trenton, and Leanna; step-grandchildren: Eric, James, Julia, Brandi, Rachael, Monica, Elizabeth, Jessaka, and Cody; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, George Harold Thurman and wife, Rosie of New Florence, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, George Webster and Ethel Harriett Jones Thurman; and two brothers: Leonard Thurman and Daniel Thurman.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Mike Crowson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home.
