Arthur Arnold Hoffmann, 84, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at St. Andrews in New Florence, Missouri.

Arthur was born in Chesterfield, Missouri, on March 1, 1940, the son of Marvin C. Hoffmann and Ida Louise (Kraus) Hoffmann. He graduated from Troy Buchanan High School in 1958 as the president of his class. He then went straight into the National Guard at the age of 18. On May 7, 1960, he married Carol Marie Wilson in Wentzville, Missouri. They were married for 64 loving years before his passing.

Arthur and Carol moved to Montgomery City in April 1962. He worked for the Standard Oil Company until 1977, when he went out on his own and created Hoffmann Oil. By 1980 he opened his first convenience store in New Florence, Missouri, and went on to open multiple other AMOCO stores in the surrounding counties. He was also a crop sprayer for many years. Art was an incredibly smart man and he worked hard throughout his life to achieve his dreams. He enjoyed old tractors. He also found that he had a talent for woodworking and created many beautiful projects. More than anything, though, Art loved his family. His children and grandchildren brought great joy and laughter to his life, and they will all miss him dearly.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Carol Marie (Wilson) Hoffmann of the home; two sons, Kenneth W. Hoffmann and Arthur E. Hoffmann, both of Montgomery City, Missouri; grandchildren: Shane Hoffmann, Shona (Chad) Beza, Kori (Allison) Hoffmann, Willie (Shannon) Hoffmann, Casey (Bridget) Hoffmann, Amanda (Chris) Burch, Kale (Shayla) Hoffmann, Eric (Megan) Niemeyer, Jake (Rachel) Hoffmann, Zach Kratky, Emmylou Hoffmann, Eli Hoffmann; 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a brother, Marvin Hoffmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin C. and Ida Louise Hoffmann, daughter, Sharon Niemeyer, son, Jerry Hoffmann, and siblings: Irene Eddy, Henry Hoffmann, and Robert "Bob" Hoffmann.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville, Missouri, with Reverend Luke Wolters officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kori Hoffmann, Casey Hoffmann, Kale Hoffmann, Willie Hoffmann, Shane Hoffmann, and Eric Niemeyer.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville, Missouri, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
