Angela Sue
Whyte
Jul 6, 1946 — Aug 19, 2023
Angela Sue (Erwin) Whyte, 77, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at her home.
Angie was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 6, 1946, to Douglas Erwin and Josephine Lamattina Erwin. On April 24, 1965 in Wellsville, Missouri, she married her love, John Austin Whyte. In January 1966 they welcomed their son, Mark Anthony Whyte. John was the Montgomery Sheriff for almost 20 years and they lived in the jailhouse, with Angie cooking all the meals for the prisoners. She also spent several years working at the Sears catalog store. Over the years Angie and her husband invested in several rental properties and at one point had 21 rental locations, including the apartments that were built next to their home.
Angie was always laughing and she had a contagious smile. She loved to go out with friends, whether it was dancing or playing pool – she was really good at pool – as long as she was having a good time she didn't care, she just enjoyed being around the people that she loved. She was a social butterfly most of her life and her presence brought laughter, friendship, and happiness to those around her.
Her personal health began to decline after the loss of her son in 1996 and her husband shortly after in 1998. Angie suffered tremendous grief in her life; she can now rest peacefully with her loving family reunited once again.
Mrs. Whyte is survived by her sister-in-law Pat Whyte and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Anthony Whyte; her husband, John Austin Whyte; her parents, Douglas and Josephine Erwin; parents-in-law, Frances and Marvin "Pete" Whyte; siblings-in-law: Mary (Stanley) Engelbrecht, James "Jim" Whyte and Thomas "Tom" (Betty) Whyte.
Angie will be laid to rest alongside her son and husband at the Wellsville City Cemetery with a Graveside Service on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 12:00 PM in Wellsville, Missouri, with Pastor Chris Meyer officiating.
