Albin Gerhard Rakers, Jr., 83, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 14, 2023, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Al was born on October 4, 1939, in Trenton, Illinois, the son of Albin Gerhard Rakers, Sr. and Henrietta "Granny" Elizabeth (Diekmann) Rakers. He graduated from Wesclin High School and went on to marry Barbara Ann Reilmann on April 14, 1959, in Trenton, Illinois. In August 1972 he moved his family to Montgomery City and bought the Montgomery Processing Plant with his brother, Roger, where he was a meat cutter for many years. He could always be found riding around town chatting with his friends or family.

Albin is survived by his six children: Pat (Carlyn) Rakers of Virginia; Jackie (Ronnie) Powell of Montgomery City, Missouri; Robert "BJ" Rakers of Florida; Kevin Rakers of Utah; Bill (Robyn) Rakers of Nixa, Missouri; Michael Rakers of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren: Sarah (Joseph) Beilke of Florida; Chad (Anna) Powell of Montgomery City, Missouri; Dawson Rakers and Tanner Rakers both of Nixa, Missouri; three great-grandchildren: Silas, Alva, and Jasper Powell of Montgomery City, Missouri; siblings: Henrietta "Sis" Rakers of Illinois; Tom (Sharon) Rakers of Illinois; Arlene (Jim) Booker of Virginia; Lester (Nancy) Rakers of Illinois; Sharon (Ron) Gerstner of Illinois; and sister-in-law: Gerry (Glen) Knoepflein of Montgomery City, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann (Reilmann) Rakers, his parents, Albin G. and Henrietta E. Rakers, his brother, Roger Rakers and nephew Josh Rakers.

Special thank you to Craig (Denise) Rakers, Brian (Rachel) Rakers, Julie (Jake) Beck, Andrew Rakers and Matthew (Rachel) Rakers for all the extra time and attention they spent with Al. He was a great man and will be missed dearly.
